Albania to compensate natural disasters-hit residents

TIRANA, Sept. 7 (Xinhua) — Albania would distribute 146.7 million Albanian lek (1.6 million U.S, dollars) to residents who were affected by natural disasters during 2016 and 2019, said the country’s defense chief on Saturday.
Pirro Vengu, minister of defense, posted on social media that 1,039 residents in 17 municipalities, who were affected by earthquakes, floods, landslides and fires, would benefit from the so-called Normative Act.
The Normative Act will also provide repayment of arrears of military plants created between 2010 and 2024, according to Vengu. (1 Albanian lek = 0.011 U.S. dollar) ■
